Tough
It’s good, I’ve concluded, when your dinner is tougher to finish than the climb was - in fact I didn’t make it!
We concluded it was THE worst campsite dinner. We’re staying at this site longer than anticipated so we’re thin on the ground for food and there’s no local supermarket- just a campsite shop. We thought we might get through but that was a very good trigger, after our vile early tea, to hunt down a supermarket. In fact, we went to two!
The ride, on the other hand, was awesome - and we both made the finish of that. At the summit cafe (bonus!), we met a young Scottish lad and his dad who’d come up our descent route (even harder!) Turns out he’s joining a cycling team out here and has lived away from home since he was 16, after joining a cycling squad. One to watch!
My pic is the view back from the summit, with the road just visible on the right. Only 20 miles but packed a punch. Left plenty of time for another cafe stop at our local where I was allowed two prawns - definitely the best food of the day!
