A frosty start to an anniversary
I went for a little walk early this morning while Julia was taking the girls to school. A few days ago I picked up a metal dog tag, totally intact which made me wonder how it came off the collar. The address, on the tag, was only a 5 minute walk away, if that, so I put the tag in an envelope, along with one of those reflective poppies which many pet owners will know. Addressed it to 'The Dog', with "Thought I'd drop it in as you are very close to me" and popped it into the letterbox.
I had sent a text to the mobile number, on the tag, and the owner sent me a lovely text back saying thank you for dropping it in. They will, of course, never know who it was that returned the tag.
And, in other news, today was an anniversary day, 8 years to the day that I had my left kidney removed and my friend Ian had it implanted. He'd been ill for a number of years but had to go onto dialysis so I offered him one of my kidneys. Went something like "Well, I've got two and I don't know what to do with the spare one so you may as well have it".
Every year Ian wants to arrange a gathering, with his wife Kim and Marlane, to celebrate another year that he's got through but, for many reasons through the years, it's never actually happened on the day. Today we went to The Royal Oak, Hucclecote Road, Gloucester (it's a 'Hungry Horse' restaurant) and had an excellent meal including dessert.
Congratulations Ian on our 8th anniversary, just don't ask for the other one HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
