Reunion
Top picture is the committee, or most of them anyway, this morning at the AGM of the RAF Masirah and RAF Salalah Veterans Association. Bit of a mouthful so we normally refer to it as 'Oman RAF Veterans'.
Bottom left is the card that contains what it is, the reunion information. Inside, left, it's the timetable for the AGM, the evening dinner, toasts, etc. Inside, right, it's the menu for the dinner.
Bottom, right, is everyone enjoying a rather excellent dinner. The meal and facilities, at the Hatton Court Hotel, Upton St Leonards, were excellent, apart from one half of the room intermittently going dark and the lights flickering at times! I think they need some rewiring there.
On the back of the card there's a couple of photographs of the base as it is now (N.B. I was there July 1968 to October 1969). It was RAF Masirah but was taken over by the Royal Air Force Oman when we pulled out around 1976.
The aircraft shown on the back is a BAC Jet Provost Strikemaster, famed for the intervention into the Battle of Mirbat, in 1972 when the Adoo, from Yemen, tried to oust the Sultan and make Oman a Communist state.
