Beginning to look like autumn

We had a tricky journey to get to Switzerland yesterday. Firstly our plane was delayed by 30 minutes due to some issue, which is pretty much standard practice with BA these days. When we arrived at Zurich airport we bought up a few things from the airport supermarket for breakfast the next day and then picked up the hired car and drove up to the mountains. The journey seemed endless as it was dark, raining and there were roadworks all the way up to Landquart so it was slow going. We finally arrived at 11.45pm and felt a bit shattered, it was a later night than expected by the time we got to bed.

Today was raining with sunshine. We all slept in a bit - except Gavin who is dealing with jet lag and waking at all hours. I still woke up with a terrible headache but am hoping my cough is lessening, is it just positive thinking or is it really improving? I think the full day out on Wednesday set me back a bit and it is taking forever to shake this off.

We had a delicious lunch out with our friends at a tiny local restaurant on the golf course, only the owner/chef cooking for us and the one other guest in the restaurant. Traditional Swiss food that was expertly cooked and served, our friends were very impressed.

After lunch we went for a walk into the village and along the river. The air is crisper and cooler here, and there is snow scattered all over the mountain tops which you see when the clouds lift. The autumn colours here are much more advanced then back at home, but not near peaking yet.

Last night the aurora sightings caused much excitement all over the UK, I had whatsapps pinging all evening from our neighbours who saw it from our neighbourhood, with the naked eye despite the light pollution. Tonight my aura app is sending me warnings again so it may be another good night for sightings.

A quiet night in, tomorrow we are doing a high level walk. Hopefully I feel up to it.

Edit - Tommy is at home looking after Xena, he has just taken her for a lovely walk in the woods when she started vomiting and  then stood still in one spot shaking. He took her home and she continued just standing and shaking - he has now taken her to the vet as they want to check her. Maybe she ate something poisonous or bad?
