Now that I’m Home…….
When I’ve managed to spend 9 weeks living in a small space with hardly any clutter I decided that now I’m home with a house full of clutter that enough was enough and I must start clearing the decks so to speak.
I began with my sock drawer which has enough socks to provide for a centipede. Into a bag for the charity shop the surplus went and having done that it felt so good that I decided to pare down the number of necklaces and such like I’ve collected over the years, none of which I ever wear.
The trouble is, most of the serious clutter is connected to hobbies which come and go. Wool by the sack load , drawing and painting equipment which is probable long past its sell by date but which I’m loath to discard lest the urge comes upon me and sewing paraphernalia.
But by far the largest amount of stuff surplus to requirement is in drawers in HL’s study. Connection leads to all sorts of IT equipment which no longer exist and which I have absolutely no idea for what if ever they were used for or if they are still needed. There are drawers of stationery items like paper clips, sellotape , glue, pens and pencils by the dozen not to mention envelopes, paper and blank cards. A nightmare of ‘stuff’ which could easily be binned if I didn’t have that nagging thought ‘what if I might need it some time’.
So for the moment, it’s just socks and fashion necklaces that are in the recycling bag. But there is always the thought that if I leave it long enough someone else will have to do the job for me!
Today for the first time since the end of July I am heading off to TGIF drinkies with my neighbours. I hope to be regaled by lots of Quartermile scandal I have missed.
