The big wheel at Furnace
Just outside of Machynlleth is the small hamlet of Furnace. On the edge, next to the road, is a very solid stone built building with this huge wheel which was used to drive the bellows to produce the intense heat needed to smelt iron ore. An interesting relic from the past.
Harking back to yesterdays blip and weather forecast, the 17,000 mile an hour winds were acknowledged by the BBC to be incorrect, in fact there was almost no wind at all!
