Happy Moments

Square and Compass

We went back into Redcar today and the bank was open, unlike Friday. Identification was duly completed, then we went to one other shop nearby.

Had a quick cup of tea in the outdoor cafe in the middle of the High Street. One of those semi permanent mobile vending burger bar type places that has outdoor seating under an awning. On Friday, the place was heaving as the high street had many market stalls and lots of people around. Today it was pretty quiet, and directly opposite where we sat was this sad looking facade.

I must admit I was completely unaware of the purpose of the building, but husband said they are the Masonic lodge symbols on the wall and right enough, when we got home and I googled them and they are.

This is what Britannica says about it

‘Freemasonry, the teachings and practises of the fraternal order of Free and Accepted Masons, the largest worldwide secret society’

Might just qualify for the MM theme of mystery then do you think?
