Willowherb on the Wall
Rosebay Willowherb (Fireweed, Chamerion angustifolium, syn. Epilobium angustifolium) is once again in full flower around here.
The specimens growing on the top of this wall (surrounding the castle at Cluny, between Monymusk and Sauchen, Aberdeenshire) are not exactly in top condition, which is hardly surprising when you consider where they are growing and the lack of moisture around here over the past few weeks. It makes the scene more colourful though, as drought and poor nutrition mean they're already starting to look distinctly autumnal.
