Kirkby Lonsdale

Friend H went swimming this morning and B had an appointment at a Preston hospital so he dropped me off at a lovely little Teashop in Hornby where I met up with H and 2 friends after their swim.  Lots of chatter later H & I dropped her car off and then caught the bus into Kirkby Lonsdale. We walked onto Devil's Bridge and then along the riverside towards town. We then climbed some dodgy (and very high) steps - "The Radical Steps" to reach town.  Steps much higher and steeper than they appear in the extras!  The paving slab with a picture of a pie is in Salt Pie Lane, where Salt Pie Cottage and Mustard Pot Cottage sit alongside each other. :-). Lots of unusual street names in the town. The main photo is the lovely view over the river and beyond known as "Ruskin's View".  Unfortunately the path beyond it  was closed for repairs so we had a wander around town instead.  A wedding was taking place at the beautiful St Mary's Church - lovely flowers in milk churns (extras). A drink in a very lively pub and then B collected us at Booths where I had to buy some of the lovely Bowland cheese to bring home. Lovely dinner tonight -  H cooks very healthy, but wonderfully tasty dishes. Watched Strictly - unheard of for me - might have to keep watching it now! Another early (for me!) night :-)
