Our dinner

It’s a lovely sunny day so we enjoyed our walk over to the hospital for our flu jabs. We have to go elsewhere in a few weeks for the Covid booster and I get an invite in November for the RSV being offered to aged75-80. Mr C is too old.

DVLA require me to make a 60 mile round trip to their Specsavers to get an eye test to check I’m fit to drive. My own optician said a few months ago I was but that doesn’t count. I imagine if I’m ok it will be a test every 3 years now.

We are not going to the walk supper as Mr C had gone down with a cold and there will be elderly vulnerable people there. As I see Chris and Ailie often and Carol has asked us round on Wednesday so I’m not going on my own - a few bores I can avoid - I’m at the age I don’t feel the need to spend time with people who drain the life out of me.

Bad news from Bosnia - people killed and missing in floods at Jablanica, the town we visited where there had been a famous WW2 battle. It was a beautiful drive along by the river. I messaged Fatima who said she’s sorted out another route for her current group and they were all safe.

We were in 2 minds about Lee the film we saw last night. I hoped it would show more of her earlier life and influences but it was mainly WW2 and death camp horrors which has been done so often before. Winslett was excellent though. They are showing The Outrun when we have visitors but they said they’d like to go.

#3 daughter was given press night tickets by the director (he did the play Nathaniel was in) for the Live Theatre’s Saint Maud. It got 2 pages of write-up in the Guardian today. I’m going with her so I hope it’s not too grim.

Ella’s basketball was excitingly close today but her team won 17-15. Nathaniel apparently played really well and even scored a goal in football and got man of the match. #3 daughter is taking the boys on their second week of kayaking- still in the pool but hopefully soon open water.

This is the food I was going to take to the walk supper - dhal and a potato and cauliflower curry. They’ll have plenty of other stuff as everyone takes a contribution.
