Almost the last
Used my macro lens to enlarge this little echium flower. Just a few flowers still left in the pots in my garden.
Up very early to go to the health centre for a blood test - the sort where you’re not allowed to eat or drink anything beforehand. I’m a bit useless without some coffee. So lucky that they do 7.30 appointments.
Lunch at a nearby restaurant with my friend C - the one who has bought a doer upper house near here. Lovely to see her and catch up our lives a bit.
In the evening we ( the Friday film club) watched Ginger and Rosa - the main character (age 17) is brilliantly played by Elle Fanning when she was only 14 in real life. I thought it was excellent - set in 1962 it was really evocative of that time - poor housing, very bare, still lots of bomb sites and waste ground in London. Very good about the struggles of being a teen and trying to be a good person, while filled with the dread of nuclear war. Also about how some arty/poet kinds of people challenge the dreary social conformity norms of the time, sometimes causing huge problems for themselves and those around them
