The Devil's coach horse

I've spent much of the day scarifying grass and am now worn out. I was pleased to see this Devil's coach horse beetle. They are very  beneficial in the garden as they eat slugs, vine weevils, cutworms etc. This one was unhappy at being disturbed when I moved some pots. It immediately adopted its aggressive scorpion-like stance before running for cover.
