A New Fungus
We had our regular (ish) Thursday morning meet up with our daughter for coffee at Junction 32 outlet…apart from coffee, no purchases made this week!!
After lunch I went out for my walk and set off through the woods - only to find the path blocked by a fallen tree (first extra). I managed to squeeze underneath - which was lucky as I then found my blip!
It was growing on the end of a well decayed tree trunk - a place that I have found plenty of other fungi in the past.
Google lens identified it as Velvet Shield (Pluteus umbrosus) … and several nature/fungi sites indicate that it is a fairly rare one.
So pleased to find a new one (for me) that I have added another shot of one in the second extra.
I love the texture on the cap and the fact that it sort of glowed in the sunshine.
