A bold sheep...
...keeping guard on the old hut at the top of the hill...
This was one of the shelters for the soldiers who kept guard over the munitions that lined these roads during the Second World War.
The verges were made wider to accommodate the ordnance - and it was a great spot to choose as they were well away from the city of Sheffield, which would have been a target.
I have blipped this before, but it is becoming more derelict. Another near Scout Dyke has now been demolished, and a big new bungalow is rising from the ruins!
