Curtains For My Challenge
Pouring with rain on the last day of my personal September #ivyvisitors challenge. :( Even the ivy bees and wasps kept away today. I was hoping for a bumper crop of invertebrates after my #nomowsummer. I've been surprised by how few bugs my long grass attracted and the ivy bush has never really got buzzing as it has in previous years. I blame all the wet weather. I'm convinced that the lack of insects will impact on the birds too.
My final #ivyvisitors image is the underside of a tiny fig-leaf skeletoniser moth. I photographed one at this time last year and incorrectly identified it as an apple skeletoniser. I've learnt that the fig-leaf rollers have white legs. We have a big fig tree in one of our disused glasshouses. I love how the moth looks like a ruched piece of tapestry. I've added an image of the complete moth to extras.
