The Art of Waiting in Orkney..........
CMC set a blistering pace today. Into the Toon early doors where I was despatched for a bread audit. We rendezvoused at the Toon Hall for Scottish Country Dancing. Only five dances, but technically very demanding. We didn’t take our usual seats in the café for lunch. We ventured out to the Mart for a hot meal. Met Alan and Christine across from Flotta to sell some of their kye. We then went to see my mother. She’s gradually losing the ability to hold a ‘rational’ conversation with lots of ramblings and high-quality non sequiturs thrown in. We then went through to Harray to visit Ian. Haven’t seen him this year. His wife is housebound, and he has gradually become her unofficial carer. He still gets out occasionally for birding and botany work. He’s doing a remarkable job. Earlier in the day I bought four bags of road chips. I didn’t have them gift wrapped. But I spread them out when back at HQ. We had intended to dance in the evening, but I have a problem with my left eye. I have stayed at home and CMC has gone out with her accordion. Who said the art of busking was deid? B Dylan? Desmond has confirmed he’s keen to go back to the kipper factory after only two days in East Dulwich. I noticed he has adopted a Bhutan postcode. Inevitably there will be more tomorrow.
