Vancouver

A smooth transition into Vancouver this morning ( Sat 29) and we were off Koningsdam by 9am after our last breakfast. We walked a few blocks to our hotel to leave the suitcases and then caught the HoHo bus from outside.
We got on at number 10 and toured areas such as the sports district ( soccer and ice hockey stadiums) Chinatown, Stanley Park , and finally got off down on Granville Island. This was originally the major industrial area incl cement works which have been renovated and are now “Giants”, and the buildings are boutiques independent shops and galleries. We had a delightful lunch at The Sandbar Seafood Restaurant then caught the bus back to the hotel where we were able to check in.
We then wandered down to Gastown, one of the first residential areas named after “Gassy” ie talkative John Deighton who ran the first saloon in the town. We were there for the on the hour chiming of the worlds first steam clock .
We perused the shops and then got some lovely salad and fruit in a supermarket to have a carpet picnic in the room.
