Sailing back

Our final cruise day (27/9)has been spent at sea. The first half of the day was rough seas and we were rockin’ and a rollin’. Later in the day it was beautifully calm. We started with a fascinating talk about the ship. With nearly 3000 guests and 800 staff it really is a city at sea. Great talk about the sustainability of the ship, they have a desalination plant for all the water and 360 degree propellers allowing the ship to pivot on the spot! We then chilled with our books and intermittent wildlife watching until lunch. After lunch I went to a talk on pioneering female Alaskans and my pal had a manicure. We then spent a delightful couple of hours on deck as we sailed back along the inside passage into Canadian waters. The light was beautiful and allowed us to spot dolphins and whales. Our final meal was in Pinnacle, a speciality steak and seafood restaurant. A delicious meal which fittingly finished our week on the Koningsdam. Tomorrow we disembark in Vancouver for 3 days exploring the city.
