Lindos, Greece
“Exploration is really the essence of the human spirit.”
Frank Borman
Woke to the silence and dark of a ships cabin; thinking it must be the middle of the night I checked my phone – 10.20am and a message from R that they’d gone down to breakfast, feel free to join them. Could not believe I’d slept – without snoring – through the whole night uninterrupted on the overnight ferry.
Spent the rest of the journey having breakfast and chatting in the ship’s lounge with K2 and R, docking just before 3pm. Followed the crowd down to collect our bags and off onto the quayside, what a great way to travel.
Surprised there were no taxis available at the port and, after a few failed attempts at getting one, started walking into Rhodes Town. Trundling our suitcases across the cobbles and up the steps was a bit of a bind, but no sooner did we get through the old town gates than there were plenty of taxis, and only too happy to take us three to Lindos. Google got us very close to the villa, so R got out and looked over the wall – waved to the family below and we were there in two minutes. Home for the next week or so, decided to get into things by lying around the pool waiting to be fed – S and L were doing a BBQ for the evening to welcome the rest of the family, some had arrived by plane and ferry yesterday.
