Another-gone

Today I attended the funeral of a former colleague whom I got to know well during my days in agriculture. David was one of a kind. A man of wt and humour, a love of travel to Africa and Sri Lanka.

He nearly always wore a jacket rather than a suit and constantly had a pipe on the go. You knew he was in his office by the aroma of tobacco. The smoking ban and open plan were major challenges for him. Sadly he developed throat cancer and in 2011 had his throat box removed. His retirement was not hampered by this and he continued to travel and enjoy life.

We met up at another funeral a month or so ago and had a great catch up with colleagues. Sadly leukaemia took him quickly.

The music involved recordings of the Kevock Choir. David had been involved from its foundation and, along with horses and cars, provided one of his key interests.

Much missed.
