Silver Maple leaves and red pom pom dahlias.

The Feast Day of Saint Cosmos and Saint Damian. These saints were twins. They studied medicine as young men in Syria. They were extremely proficient at being doctors but as Christians, they decided to give patients healing for free. They did this as a form of charity. Sadly, at that time there was the Diocletian persecution and they were arrested and martyred. They are revered patron saints of physicians, nurses, surgeons, dentists, apothecaries, barbers, the blind, against hernias and pestilence; the Medici family.^

Today started cloudy and cold, 12c, which was a nice surprise, because it was forecast to rain from 8am. I went out for the newspaper and had a good walk. Paul saw a robin and a squirrel in the garden.
Holly chased the squirrel but she didn't climb the fence thankfully. I have been down to the doctors surgery to put in my repeat prescription for blood pressure tablets.
On the way home, I picked a few apples from a tree at the top of a field near home. They are an old variety but I am not sure which kind exactly. The field was very damp and my socks got a soaking. They are drying now. It is pouring with rain as I write, so I feel grateful not to have been saturated when I was out earlier!
I noticed the beautiful Autumnal leaves on the Silver Maple tree and that inspired my photo .

Have a lovely day blip friends, keep warm and thank you for dropping by.
