The Lovell Telescope

I had to go to Cheshire to collect some sampling equipment today.  It was only as I was travelling up that I got a call to say it wouldn't be there until the afternoon.  Frustrating, but it did give me the opportunity to visit Jodrell Bank for an early lunch.  Luckily it was only a couple of miles from where I was picking up the equipment.

I was lucky enough to see the Lovell Telescope being repositioned not once but twice in only a few minutes.  It is such a magnificent structure close up.  As it turned and elevated you could only admire the engineering that made it possible.
