Off out on our local bus
We've had a bus service here now since January 2020, which terminates at the top of the street. It is a slow circuitous route around the nearest town, before it heads off to the main city near us 15km away.
I used it to get to the tram, when I took the TGV down to the Dordogne back in August.
This morning I used it to get to a shopping centre the other side of town, but as it is an hour frequency, I have to be careful not to miss the one coming back. So left here at 9.20am then arrived back home at 11.20am. That gave me approximately an hour and 10 minutes to do some shopping, which is ample.
Coming back, there was a group of 6(!) bus inspectors waiting around my stop and that over the road. When my bus arrived, there was already one across the road going the other way. So they split up to board both buses to go around checking tickets and passes.
Before long, a traffic jam developed with people tootling their horns (yes we're in France). As our bus moved off, he stopped parallel to a car behind the other bus, which had been making the most noise. Opened his window and told the car driver to do the same. Then he said something along the lines of "We don't stop for the fun of it, I had inspectors on board".
It seems people are getting very impatient on the roads as of late. Can't wait a few minutes. Neither bus was full.
