Watching the Watchdog?

We were travelling home today but first, with Mum Becky, we had to walk Euan to school in a monsoon.  It had rained heavily all night and kept going as Oxford woke up.  We decided it was probably better to walk rather than cycle, it being the easiest way to keep Euan dry.  The drains were not coping with the amount of rainfall and not all drivers were careful going through the growing puddles.  By the time we returned to the house, we were all wet through and had to change our clothes.

Becky went off to work on her bike, prepared to have a second soaking, and we repacked our bags, put wet shoes and waterproofs back on and emerged into the heavy rain once more.  It was chaos in the streets but luckily the bus arrived on time and we were soon in the centre where we spent some time over a second breakfast in Pret.  Luckily, buses to the train station go from just outside the shopping centre so we didn't have to walk in the still pouring rain.

Thankfully, the return train journeys were uneventful and we managed to get good seats on the second leg even though we did not have reservations.  On the first leg I was sure the traveller sitting across the aisle was Esther Rantzen's co presenter but I'm relieved I didn't get a full blip (of anyone!) as I feel uneasy doing that, so instead you have a not very good glimpse of train life.
