Tea in the garden

Autumn equinox and although there was a crashing thunderstorm at 5am it was a lovely sunny day. It often is on September 21, I notice this every year as it is youngest brother’s birthday and over the years we’ve had several outdoor parties.  A big one today Anthony!  Happy birthday!  It’s so sweet;  the sunshine at this time of year feels like a stolen treasure.  The leaves on our big Canadian Oak are turning slowly but I know it’s a couple of months before they are fully gone.

Walked down to the village to get the papers but it wasn’t pleasant as, although the sweetcorn is all harvested,  there are so many cobs around that the dog tries to eat, forgetting that one nearly killed him last year so he had to be on the lead.  Long talk with our neighbour Sandra on the way back so V thought I’d gone on a far longer walk than I actually had.

Lunch with Mum , beautifully cooked by her carer and including delicious  raspberries from the garden. Those ancient canes are still cranking them out.

After tea I started some sorting out and then we had an early Gousto dinner and watched both another Slow Horses, fabulous and another Kaos also great fun.
