Today's the day ...................... to wage war

I've spent quite a large part of the day working on this wall, which quite probably has been around for a hundred years - or more.

The problem was that it was completely covered in ivy, so much so in fact, that we'd forgotten (if we ever knew) that there were some lovely stones in there.  Now, anyone that's ever gone to battle with ivy will know what an incredibly tough and versatile opponent it can be.  Over the years, it can creep steadfastly to cover everything in its path.  It can get its tentacles into the tiniest of crevasses, and hold on with an iron grip that defies most garden implements that are trying to remove it.

If only I had taken a 'before' shot before presenting you with the one above - you would know what a brilliant job I have done.  I'm not saying that I've won the war - but I definitely won the battle today ...................!
