Long Pathway to Peace (Rongomara)
The Peace walk was established to honour the memory of Sir Peter Elworthy who died in 2004. It was established by his wife Fiona and their four children. A curving avenue of 38 cherry trees was planted in September, 2009 with the help of many friends.
Myself and two friends went out there at 8.30am this morning meeting up with another photographer Roland who lives nearby. Clear skies, with frost underfoot didn't deter us; we enjoyed the solitude and beauty while photographing the trees and other natives that make up this beautiful rural park. Gorgeous light on the surrounding hills so some landscape (and ICM) photography also. Lots of choices for blip, but since my title mentions 'pathway' this seemed the right choice.....a close up in extra.
This is my second visit here this spring, and last year I did two visits also. Only 20 minutes away, so easy access.
We're now settling in to watch the rugby test between the All Blacks and Australia.
