Actaea
A late blooming perennial. The bees seem to love it. This variety has green leaves and is not readily available at the nurseries. I often use the purple leafed ones in gardens. I planted one today and one yesterday in different gardens.
I only had 2 and a half workers available today, so I decided we would get some work done here at my place. Note that I said 'a half worker' because one guy was an hour late again today, and he didn't bother to let me know. He was over an hour late one day last week too. It took Ma 2 hours to get here by bus today, but she arrived on time. I had Da weeding one of my beds that has daylilies and echinacea in it. He wasn't paying attention, just grabbing at dead daylily foliage and he pulled one echinacea that was blooming. I knew it was there and when I checked to see how he was doing, I noticed it was gone. I found it with a small piece of root on it in the weed pile. I doubt that it will survive the winter now. I showed in some weeds along the foundation that I wanted pulled. He pulled some, then left others. So I sent him off to weed a gravel area, I figured he couldn't do any damage there.
Then I fired him tonight. Being late, taking more sick days than other people (4 in a 2 week period), although I think he was working at another job. The past couple of weeks he has just been a body that is costing me money. Plus he has made a couple of my female workers uncomfortable, he ogles them while they are working. I had noticed him watching St right from the time he started working.
I had a few more plants that had been left behind for the job we did on Thursday, so I went back there today to get them planted. Plus I had a few more plants for the Halifax job we did a couple of weeks ago. I had a quote to do in south end of Halifax this afternoon, getting there wasn't bad, but by the time I left the traffic was heavy. And I had to get to the west end of Halifax for another quote. Busy, busy, busy, we will be doing one of the jobs, I just have to put together a price so their finance committee can approve it. The other one I will like do too, a fall garden cleanup, and thinning out things that need it.
