Thursday

Brother and sister, Luna and Dippy both two “tyred “to run in the afternoon heat.
The moon shone nearly as bright as the sun lighting up the sky early doors.
After a breakfast of sourdough, blueberry conserve and banana I searched for some washers to lift up the hinges on the barn door. I found some and was able to remove the door and fit the washers but had to wait for assistance from H to replace the door on its hinges. The door now closes and the bolt slides into place.
Next task was to deep clean the small chicken coop, its on its last legs but after an hour of scraping and renewing the bedding happiness returned to the little feathered ones (see extra).
The large chicken coop had a good overhaul last week and it’s five hens and a four peacocks are all content. Eggs are being delivered in a consistent fashion.
After some laundry work and a couple of bagels for lunch I accompanied N on a cross field walk to collect her offspring from Forest School with canine company of course.
Two hours later we arrived back at the farm where I realised that milk was required, mostly for the batter mix for road in the hole.
A chance meeting with an ex policeman who was walking around the coastline of the uk was interesting and I was able to give him a lift to Bideford where he was catching the bus to Hartland to his tent and his heavy camping equipment.
Milk collection completed and batter made, sausages cooked, job complete and no toads were harmed.
Only H and I were at the table to enjoy but tomorrow there are several more mouths expected.
PS I forgot to mention that eight piglets were returned to their pen during the day.
Zzzzzz.
