On foot.

Maputo has some design and architectural gems, if you have an eye for it. I don’t but I like to pretend that I do.

Baixa, the old beating heart of the city, has the richest number of these due to its age and role as the former colonial centre. It’s very hard to get bored of exploring Maputo on foot.

I poked my head into an open walkway and saw this very distinctive entrance to an apartment block. This one has been adorned by various signs, old and new, advertising companies that have taken over space inside the block. The guard, absent from his desk when I arrived, emerged and thought I was very strange for photographing this spot.
