Sementes
Seeds.
I was bidding goodbye to Ana at the end of our day of meetings, when a gentle young lad came over, announcing himself as a missionary. A hotel lobby in Maputo frequented by various execs and foreigners doesn’t seem like the normal fertile ground for conversion, but we heard him out.
He produced some readings of bible passages and asked me to select one, which I did at random. He then asked me to read the passage to Ana, which I did. Something about seeds, hearts, life and God. A surreal moment, but good Portuguese reading practice if nothing else.
Turns out that he was mostly there to flog paraphernalia as he made a few attempts to sell religious textbooks to Ana once I’d gone.
