Swan crossing!

I’m late with posting this evening.
We went to see Bobbie in her Dementia Unit this afternoon.
Our route passes a Nature Reserve which spans both sides of the road. There are road signs beforehand to say drive slowly and ‘rumble strips” to slow traffic as it passes alongside the two small pools on either side sparkling in mid afternoon sunshine.
It is a very busy route but people respected the restrictions on the speed.
Today as we approached there was a line of stationary traffic. Eventually very slowly it moved car by car us included.
The reason being, two swans asleep actually at the side of the road, one standing in the gutter with his head tucked under his wing. Ongoing traffic had to wait for oncoming traffic to slowly negotiate round it by driving on the other side of the road. People were very good taking it in turns one at a time to let each ongoing and oncoming car pass by.
No-one sounded a horn but respected the two sleeping swans. It was good to see. Such a difference from impatient honking drivers always in a hurry.
The two pools are filled with Canada geese, swans, ducks and moorhens as well as coots, and ubiquitous seagulls.
After our visit with Bobbie, who looked quite well today, we set off home.
Once again approaching the Reserve there was a stationary line of cars in both directions.
The reason this time being a group of Canada geese crossing the road to the other pond. This took some time! But as they were almost across and we all thought we could move, swans then decided to cross the road in the opposite direction to that of the geese!
I then took the photo.
Eventually it was all clear with them back in their preferred pond, and the geese in theirs!
Their reserve was there before the road and as far as they are concerned everyone else can wait!
Good for them.
At least today they were treated with respect.
I’ll catch up with your blips tomorrow.
