California Poppy

Thanks for all the stars and hearts for yesterday' blip. Glad you liked it.

Quite a busy day, today. Went into my old school for their last day assembly - lots of certificates, three staff leaving and Year Six moving on. Next year, that will leave only two classes in the school who I have taught. Another couple of years, and there will only be one or two children who remember me. Still, that's the way it goes.

After that, it was trying to get back to my normal Friday routine. I stopped off at B+Q to pick up a pole, so that my daughter can make herself a clothes rail as part of the bedroom-sorting-out-process, and then on to the supermarket for the weekly shop.

Back by two and then collapsed into a chair in the heat. My wife is currently off with her Y6 class on an overnight residential, my son has gone off with his mates for the weekend and my daughter has gone out with her friends, so here I am, all on my own.

After watering the garden, I took the camera out to get a blip. My wife has planted california poppies to try and give the garden some colour in the summer. It's worked - they've been coming out over the last three or four days, but when the sun goes off the garden, they roll themselves up again, so she hasn't actually managed to see them since they have flowered!

Anyway, I chose one of them to blip tonight. It isn't totally sharp, but it still has some water droplets from the watering, it's rolled itself up into a beautiful spiral and the colour is still spectacular, even though its closed. I may try and take a shot of an open one to blip tomorrow.
