Bergamo. Cite alta

We took a train back from Milan to Bergamo. Just outside the station in Milan was the big white apple-

Once in Bergamo we located the bus to the Citte Alta. Wonderful views going up! And loved the place.

Started by a bite to eat. Took ages to get served but the food was good and loved the art work under our plates! Especially the artists drawings g of hands.

There are two basilicas next to each other. We went into Santa Maria Maggiore. As you walk in it’s amazing! The ceiling, the walls all covered in painting and sculptures. I have seen a lot of fabulous churches but this one stands out. I added lots of examples.

Back at the hotel we first stayed in! Tired but a great stay. Would love to do it again and learn a bit of Italian too! Off for a salad!
