Eirias Park v. Rhuddlan

TUESDAY

Today was even warmer than yesterday, with temperatures hitting the lower 20s°C.

I kicked off the morning (in my new very Hi Viz shirt - see extra) with a run from Tremeirchion to Rhuallt, through Waen, and then the dreaded 2 km uphill slog back home. In total just over 10 km in an hour and three minutes.

After a quick shower and tackling some household chores, I made my way to our final "away" match of the season at Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay. On the way, I picked up a free "birthday treat" doughnut and a cheese and onion pasty for lunch from Greggs on the A55 at Abergele.

The park is a lovely spot - set back from the seafront in fifty acres with a boating pool, leisure centre, swimming pool, and bowling green.

I played at number 8 against Paul Hudson (pictured). Under the blistering sun, I stormed to an 11-1 lead, but Paul clawed the game back to 11-10. After a bit of a tussle, I managed to pull ahead and win 21-16.

Unfortunately, our team didn’t fare as well overall—we had just four winners out of ten and lost the aggregate, finishing 8 points to 4 in favour of the home team.
