Annual Highlight!

Back on horseback again!  And this time it was as perfect as I think it could be. A lovely Fell pony  Pansy and a ride along bridleways, through forest tracks and over fells. Lucky me, I was the only one on the trek today so it felt a bit special. Owner Tom took me out, and he was good company, very knowledgeable about Fell ponies and their history and about the area. Both ponies had been bred by him.

The tracks were steep in parts, but no bother to the ponies. We had terrific views of the Lakeland mountains and the fells, miles in each direction. We saw dragonflies and a lizard, picked blackberries and had an excellent picnic at lunchtime next to a reservoir. Tom produced fresh bread, pepper and tomato soup, marinated olives and feta, local cheeses and then chocolate brownies!

Extra photos of Pansy enjoying her lunchtime break. I didn't get any very great photos of her but I have enough to remember her. She was a bit bigger than Nimbus, but very similar to ride and I even found myself calling her Nimbus at times!  Over the 9 miles we had some gentle, leisurely walks, nice brisk trots and some exciting canters too. She was super and I was so happy. I'm still happy and expect to be for a long time!

Mike and Lottie spent the day in Cartmel, where Lottie won over more admirers!
