Nature observation archaeology

Before we set off for home this morning, we leafed through the hotel's book of nature observations. We were hoping to find evidence of my parents' stays there in the early 2000s - and we did! It was very easy to spot Daddy hazelh's distinctive script amongst all the entries. There were three in total, for: (1) 14th June 2006; (2) 19th July 2007 (blipped); and (3) 19th June 2009.

We left the hotel at 10:00, making it back to Edinburgh just after 18:00. Podcasts entertained us most of the way. We listened to programmes on history, English literature, and current affairs:Jeremy Thorpe, dragons, Beowulf, Emily Maitlis' interview with Prince Andrew, and last week's edition of the News quiz. 

We broke the journey for shopping at House of Bruar and Dobbies, and a very welcome cup of tea/coffee with chocolate cake chez the Winsfords in Pitlochry.

Home once more, we soon unpacked everything and started the post-holiday laundry marathon. We reestablished Monday evening normality with a simple supper followed by Only connect (quite easy questions tonight), and University challenge (much harder).

Exercise today: none (travel day).
