Orgiva

This is Orgiva, shot from much higher up in the Sierra Nevada mountains, above Carataunas. The Sierra Lujar is seen cutting in from the left. Orgiva sits in the valley nestling in the foothills of the Alpujarras, it has its own micro climate and is extremely fertile. In the 1960's it was the Hippy capital of Europe and there are still three established communities in the valley. At the weekends, the throb of techno can be heard some way up the Rio Chico valley as can the drums that are beaten in some kind of frenzied ecstasy when the sun rises over the mountain.
