Flowers and Bugs

The old knee was really angry with me last night. I was still awake at 3:00 am trying to get comfortable. What I would have given for an 800 mg Motrin! But I know that’s not an acceptable solution. I had loads of extra Kindle time so I won’t complain. And by 7:15, I was ready to begin the day. It was great having all but the biscuits ready for our breakfast. We went searching for the yellow flowers we saw on the way in to the campground. On the way, I saw many morning glories weaving within the field weeds. We stayed at the very edge since my ankles were unprotected - did NOT want to pick up chiggers. The hoverfly showed up at the perfect time and danced around so I could take many shots. Then I saw this multicolored version that was fading fast but beautiful. Not sure what bug was hiding inside. The yellow flowers can wait to be famous another day. We stopped at the camper and put on long socks so we could hike a short trail and the rest of the campground. I decided to also wear a sturdy knee brace and take my trekking pole. They provided great support. We put up our sun/rain screen and marked the pole better to make the job easier next spring. Hubby and I dozed awhile and realized it was 2:00; definitely time for lunch. My son sent the girls (his two sisters) and me a text announcing his promotion to president of his company. This has been in the works for a while but I was sworn to secrecy until it was made public. He has worked tirelessly in the last two years and I am proud of the result. Looks like we will get some of the heavy rains from the tropical storm off the Atlantic coast starting tomorrow. The lighter bands are supposed to get here around 5:00 tonight. I am hoping the result will be the appearance of fungi later in the week. We saw so many varieties at a nearby campground in September a few years ago. In the mean time, more reading and puzzle solving are in our immediate future. There are a ton of birds at the campground. None have found the seeds we put out for them yet. Enjoy your week folks. May you be safe and experience many happy moments. Thanks for dropping by. “Now and then it’s good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy.” - Guillaume Apollinaire
