Frog went a ridin'

It's fair time in Ashby de la Zouch, the Ashby Statutes. A long established tradition in which the fair takes over the entire town centre. The Statutes were the time of year when farm workers and tradesmen came together to meet potential employers for the coming years.

Obviously also the perfect opportunity to have fun and a good time.

We'd gone to Ashby so that Rebecca could once again try to prise out the corn in my foot which has been agonising over the past few days.

She did, and also put a thick pad over that part of my foot. Very worryingly she also warned me that because the skin is thin there, it could ulcerate which would mean referral to NHS podiatry services.

I need to rest the foot as much as possible. Some hope.

We stopped by at A Moment in Thyme for breakfast. Sam, who had been looking after the cafe had got the job he wanted at Harlow's and had just gone on holiday to Majorca. As his Mum, Paula, said, he doesn't know he's been born yet.

Paula was elated with her tremendous experience of sky diving for charity. She showed us the video. She really was on Cloud 9 and all the best to her too. It was the sensation of space around her she thinks that made it so wonderful. It was lovely to see her so happy.

Extra is of a gargoyle on the Ghost Train.
