Boldt Castle and the Thousand Islands
We took a boat tour today on the St. Lawrence River. We left from the village of Alexandria Bay, the center of the Thousand Islands. The high light was Bolt Castle. The main photo is actually the powerhouse of Bolt Castle. The first extra shows views of the main castle along with the children’s playhouse. The second extra shows some of the homes on millionaire’s row. The third extra is Sunken Rock Lighthouse. There are about 1800 islands in the Thousand Island, some privately owned with homes on them. The tour went from the U.S. side to the Canadian side. To be considered an island it must be above water 365 days a year, have a 3 foot square patch of grass and have at least one tree on it.
Later we went to the village of Clayton for dinner. When we parked, there was an Amish man with his horse and buggy along with his wife and child who already got into the buggy, 4th extra. As we walked the Riverwalk prior to dinner there as a a fundraiser going on at the Harbor Hotel. It was annual fundraiser for Hospice and the theme was the roaring 20’s, 5th extra.
