Mozarabic

Today we drove from Burgos to Leon, stopping at several monasteries and churches en route.

The main image is the entrance to the 10th century monastery San Miguel de Escalada (St Michael Archangel) with an arcade of horseshoe arches, somewhat reminiscent of Cordoba Cathedral (built as a mosque).

My favourite carved capital of the day was the angel playing a violin (first extra) in the Monastery of San Zoilo (now a parador where we had lunch). I’ve been collecting Camino signs (second extra). We strolled around Leon as it got dark. It’s Saturday night and full of people out to impress (third extra).
