Strawberry Hill Flower Festival
This morning I went with a couple of friends to the curators tour of the Strawberry Hill House Flower Festival. It is a Gothic style house built in 18C by Horace Walpole. Inside each of the main rooms were flower displays all rather naturalistic. Because many of the windows have some stained glass at the top, and it was nice and sunny this morning, some of the exhibits had ‘coloured’ parts…like this blip which is an arrangement of dried buttercups . Also in the extras…dried seed heads and in one room a very simple arrangement of nasturtiums and bricks!
My favourite exhibits were difficult to get good photographs of, by the florist Yeon-Hee. She presses flowers and then arranges them…I have found her work on Instagram.
Then I went to the allotment to do some weeding, some tidying and splitting some geranium plants for friends. On my return I made a quick trip to see the photographic exhibition in the Landmark Centre …all the photographs and also some artwork were of Bushy Park and such a range of expertise and styles . It was not a competition as such and they said all photos submitted were on display including children’s art work. However we were given voting slips to say which was our favourite. A calendar for 2025 has already been produced with 12 of the best photographs submitted earlier in the year, a couple are by blippers.
Later a walk with Libby….in lovely sun.
