Another detour

I thought I was safe. Based on the work done yesterday and the schedule of road works for the week, I drove to Tobermory for my appointment for the car’s MOT test at 9.30am, happy that my way home would be clear. How wrong could I be?

Breakfast at the bakery (a croissant filled with smoked bacon, halloumi and chilli jam, accompanied by a flat white coffee) was a rare treat. I followed that with some shopping, including a successful purchase of a roll of flashing for Nick, and set off for home with my MOT pass certificate, happy that I had completed all essentials in a relatively short time.

Less than a mile from home my journey was halted! It transpired that the tar lorries had been more than an hour late in arriving so the job that should have been completed an hour earlier had just started. I had a choice to make. Wait for at least one hour until the job was complete or drive round by the scenic route via Glen Bellart, Salen, Ulva Ferry and Calgary (36 miles). Being someone who finds it very hard to sit and do nothing, I chose the latter. Some may think that was foolish but I enjoyed seeing views I haven’t seen for a while.

I  am also very grateful that the road repairs have been completed (for now).
