Lucky shot! Right time, right place. Or, as someone else pointed out, right place, long time.

That the heron appears prehistoric is obvious, with its long neck and beak. Hearing the primordial screech ring out around the lake, even though in the modern age I know there's no danger, the sound evokes feelings tinged with fear that stone age man may recognise.

How it flies, I can't even imagine.
