Up above the streets & houses...
Back to work tomorrow morning so this afternoon your Gal disappeared for a few (approximately 4) hours to enjoy some fresh air, defragment Brain & call in on Dad on the way home.
Biscuit insisted I wear the Oxford biking jeans that have hardly had an airing in 2024 because of the sporadic excuse for a summer we have had. A nice choice ol'Biccie because the sky was blue as we rattled off in a southerly direction through Marple, Hazel Grove, and Macclesfield in the direction of Leek.
I had a few coffee stops in mind so had not popped any into the sat-nav until Pop-Popping along the. A523, tiny little pellets started to ping off my helmet, thighs, and Biscuits fuel tank...yes in September...HAILSTOOOONES...that soon turned into big raindrops. Along a tree-lined stretch I snuck into a private driveway for shelter and look at the map. A mile and a half away from Rudyard Lake was good news so when the rain abated slightly, off we headed to find it's cafe.
By the time the ceremony of Arriving, de-Motorcycle Attiring, & Cup of Coffee purchasing had been observed the Sun had come out for an encore so a stroll was had along the Dam* and to find the narrow gauge railway - it's station close by being appropriately named (...Dam)
The lake is 2½ miles long so it wasn't a surprise to see a sizeable sailing yacht silently glide up it's moorings, followed by a small launch (extra) come into view and eventually disembark it's passengers on the jetty. Nice!
For the ride back northwards I opted for the more Shunpikery route over Danebridge, through Wildboarclough and over the hills east of Bollington. That's where the rainbow was blipped inspired somewhat by Besties Blip from yesterday and at the bottom of the shot noticing shadows of JamCam's blip today!
Dad, encouragingly was looking a bit more like his usual self, grumpy and talking about football which I don't understand & never have ;-D
( *Rudyard is not really a Lake, but a Reservoir to feed the Caldon Canal the other side of Leek )
