Just purrtend

First full day of our stay in Dorset, weather forecast is  cloud and bright spells with a chilly breeze turning to rain in the p.m. or , same old same old. We headed for Shaftesbury, interesting place with lots of “ antique “ shops, small galleries and good independent coffee shops and cafes, the two we used were excellent. The big attraction is Golden Hill a very old very steep hill with houses on one side and a buttressed wall on the other, the road surface is cobbles. There are a number of thatched properties in the town and from the dim and distant past I recall that thatched houses usually had cats to hunt the vermin that liked to nest in the warm straw and scavenge what the could from the occupants, these two I assume are a nod to that practice.
