I felt noticeably brighter this morning, so went for my usual pre-work walk before logging on to work.  I was feeling quite overwhelmed by work, so many emails, so much going on and I have no idea what’s happening.  I started my day with a couple of catch ups with team members to find out what is going on, then spent the rest of the morning in two meetings which did help  me to get up to speed on a couple of things.

I had an appointment with the practice nurse at our GP surgery this afternoon.  Again, I will spare you the details, but she made a start at cleaning out the infection.  The pain was off the scale, but she was very supportive and somehow I got through it.  It brought back a memory of when I had a muck and gravel filled  wound on my leg cleaned out by a nurse in A&E many years ago, when she used  a scrubbing brush.  By the time I left the surgery – and I was there almost half an hour – it was all dressed and hidden, and I am grateful that I can’t see it anymore, nor have to deal with it.  I left the surgery and emerged into the very bright day, feeling dazed and confused, and in shock after my ordeal.   The nurse told me it would burn/sting for the rest of the afternoon, due to the stuff she had put on it, and that I should take pain killers and rest, which I did.  I called work and said I needed to take the rest of the afternoon off to recover, which made me feel like  drama queen!  I also had to arrange an appointment at the local hospital to get the dressing changed on Friday (as directed by the nurse) – which proved unbelievably difficult as there are no appointments available in the whole of East Lothian on Friday.  The chap I was dealing with was very nice, but I was becoming more and more exasperated.  We have left it that he will call me at 9am on Friday, in the hope that I can get an emergency appointment.  If that doesn’t work he said I will have to go to the minor injuries unit in Edinburgh.  I then had a lie down to recover  from the trauma, and promptly fell asleep.  I woke up a couple of hours later, by which time the painkillers had kicked in, the burning wasn’t so bad and I felt that my blood pressure was probably also back to normal.  What an afternoon.

TT appeared home soon after I woke up.  Tea was a joint effort.  BB had gone out with R, so wasn’t around.  After tea, I went for a wee wander around the block, just to make sure I was feeling OK again, then took up residence on the sofa.  I did manage to get wordle in two – which is probably my only achievement of the day!

Some more knitted bunting which is hanging up in town – looking lovely against a blue sky.  The September weather has improved.
