It's hazy again
this morning but sunshine will
prevail for today

I was out the door at 7 and on my way to Monte Lake on Hwy 97. It was a bit smoky looking into the sun. The weatherman had promised a day of sunshine.

i drove east on the TransCanada Highway, then turned south onto Hwy 97. The road takes me to higher elevations and along a winding road.

Monte Lake was always a pretty stop on the way to Vernon and Kelowna. Since a forest fire cleared most of this valley, it doesn't seem as enjoyable. The local people have rebuilt and fishermen still access the lake. It was rather quiet this morning with just one boat on the lake and a few campers along the edge. I didn't stop for long.

On the way back home, I stopped at Monte Creek beside the Thompson River to visit the St. Peter's Anglican Church. It is such a sweet building one can view from the TransCanada Highway. I parked in the shade and walked up the drive to the church. It was built in 1926 in memory of a son lost in WW1. It holds just two services each month with a very small congregation.

Near the church is a big ranch featuring a wagon and horses by the gate. The wagon bears "JF Movie Horses" on its cover. This has intrigued me for years. Do they supply livestock for movies here? This weekend the ranch appeared to be hosting a collection of horse people with big horse trailers and lots of horses. I love to see cowboys in action. I caught one just riding along.

I picked up my usual breakfast on the way home. It was a 2 hour jaunt this morning and I came home hungry.

I'm in for the day and I have no particular plans for it.
