Summer is having
another kick at us for
the weekend - oh, my!

I slept until after 5, a win for me now that mornings start a little later. I had the front door unlocked at 6:30 when I left the house. Trevor wanted to start at 7 today and I didn't think I'd be back by then. Off I went to the north shore and MacArthur Island Park.

I was hoping to catch the first rays of sunshine over my mountains but I was distracted by activity in the slough. I'd parked by the footbridge to walk over to the other side for my sunrise shot, but two photographers were already on the footbridge and very intently focused.

They told me in hushed tones that they were watching the otters in the slough. I did not know we had otters! I stopped beside the photographers and managed one quick shot of an otter on the bank with a fish in its mouth. There were 3 otters, presumably a mother and two offspring, but they were far too fast for me.

I looked to the opposite side of the bridge to see a beaver moving a branch along on the water. Then I got a shot of a beaver moving through the slough with its head above the water. So, the wildlife have been good to me today!

I thought I should quit while I was ahead, so I drove off to collect my breakfast, then returned home.

Trevor was already working on leveling the downstairs floors when I got home. There will be a load of materials arriving today to be moved into the house. Trevor decided it should come down the side stairs and into the sliding door off the deck. He didn't want it coming through my front door and down the stairs inside. He's afraid it could damage the flooring he'd installed two years ago.

I'm home until another lawyer's appointment after lunch. Then, fingers crossed, it should be a quiet weekend.
